That was Julian Anderson’s life at the Montana Club, a private club owned and frequented by Helena, Montana’s fifty richest men. After sixty years of service to the club, Julian retired in 1953. He passed away nine years later, on December 20, 1962, at the age of 102.In 1919, Julian was the second African-American to publish a pre-Prohibition cocktail recipe book, Julian’s Recipes, behind his contemporary Tom Bullock of St. Louis.
